Dans le plan d'origine, cet appartement ne disposait pas de salle de bain. Le projet vise à recréer cette fonction absente, et à en faire une articulation à la fois ludique et discrète du nouvel aménagement de ce 35m2.
La nouvelle pièce a donc été conçue en suivant la géométrie existante entre la cuisine et la chambre, et en utilisant le moins de surface possible. La chambre à coucher et le salon ont été rénovés aussi près que possible de leur état d'origine. Afin d'intégrer l'espace de la salle de bain, la chambre à coucher est sectionnée à son extrémité, et une nouveau mur est bâti, une diagonale qui vient trancher en une ligne nette les moulures du plafond.
Le nouveau et l'ancien dialoguent l'un avec l'autre, sans chercher à se cacher, sans chercher à s'imiter. Rien de superflu.
Ce nouveau bloc salle de bain est inséré comme une cavité manipulable entre les espaces, entre deux murs, ouvrable des deux côtés, qui devient tour à tout couloir, une pièce, deux pièces, selon les besoins changeants qu'exige le ballet du quotidien.
Ce projet est une réflexion sur le confort des espaces minimums d'habitation, en milieu urbain dense, ici à Paris.
Il illustre l'idée qu'en proposant une réversibilité fonction-circulation, espace servant-espace servi, de petits espaces peuvent être spacieux, et donner l'impression d'espace. Le luxe et le confort résident en la capacité d'un espace
à chorégraphiér un mouvement fluide des corps, dans nos besoins quotidiens.
Cette fonctionnalité compacte et manipulable de l'appartement, est aussi esthétique.
De nombreux rangements intégrés dissimulent les appareils ménagers, permettent de libérer les surfaces de l'emcombrement des objets. Ceci contribue à dessiner notre perception d'un espace ouvert, aéré. Une respiration.
Le meuble d'entrée se prolonge dans la chambre à coucher comme dressing.
Les deux pièces principales de l'appartement, le salon et la chambre, ont été réaménagées et restaurées de manière simple et fidèle à leur état d'origine, avec des finitions naturelles et brutes.
La cuisine et la salle de bain, où la plupart des interventions ont eu lieu, sont colorés, et utilisent une palette complémentaire de matériaux et couleurs, pour souligner l'imbrication des usages.
La finition du sol est en résine, les meubles sont en bois, et linoléum. Le plan de travail en inox accentue, apr la réflexion de la luminère, la perspective de la cuisine.
La salle de bain est l'espace le plus chaleureux et le plus accueillant de l'appartement.
In the original floorplan, this flat did not have a bathroom. The project aims to recreate this absent function, and to make it a central, playful, and yet almost invisible and ambivalent space. What didn’t exist may disappear again.
The new room was therefore designed, following the existing geometry between the kitchen and the bedroom, and using the minimum possible surface area. The bedroom and living room were restored as close as possible to their original state. To fit the bathroom space into the footprint, the bedroom was shortened slightly, with a new wall mounted diagonal, as a clean line cutting through the original ceiling mouldings. The new and the old converse with each other, without trying to hide, without trying to mimic. Nothing superfluous.
The new bathroom block is inserted as a manipulable cavity between the spaces, openable from two sides, which becomes a corridor according to the changing needs of the day's routine.
This project demonstrates a reflexion on comfort, and the perception of spaciousness in minimum surfaces. By making functions become circulations and vise and versa few square meters can not only be spacious ; but also choreographed places that facilitate a fluid movement of bodies.
The apartment is thought to be functional, with multiple storing arrangements. In-built storages dissimulate household appliances and create a continuity between rooms. The entrance cabinet extends into the bedroom as a wardrobe.
The two main rooms of the flat, the living room and the bedroom, have been refurbished and restored in a simple and faithful way to their original state, with natural and raw finishes.
The kitchen and bathroom, where most of the interventions took place, are coloured, using a complementary palette of materials and tones, to emphasise the intermingling of uses.The floor is finished in resin, the furniture in wood and linoleum, from green/cold tones in the kitchen to pink-pastel ones in the bathroom.
The stainless steel worktop accentuates the perspective of the kitchen through the reflection of light. The bathroom is the warmest and most welcoming space in the flat.
