Custom renovation, Paris 13

Paris 20, Ménilmontant

This 36 m² apartment has been completely redesigned to maximize functionality and versatility. The bathroom, discreetly integrated into a thick wall, and the custom-made furniture allow the spaces—bedroom, living room, kitchen—to be transformed as needed: office, guest room, yoga room, or social space.

The project illustrates the concept of sufficiency: doing a lot with a little, combining compactness, flexibility, and reversibility, while creating a space that is warm, practical, and poetic.

The project reinvents space through a subtle interplay between architecture and furniture. Furniture becomes walls, while partitions and thresholds become inhabited spaces. The bathroom, discreetly integrated into a thick wall between the kitchen and bedroom, transforms into a closet or hallway thanks to two aligned doors. Each room—bedroom, kitchen, living room—is transformed according to need: office, social space, guest room, yoga room.

The custom-made furniture and colorful palette give the apartment a strong, warm, and timeless identity. Traces of the existing structure and architectural interventions are left visible, creating a dialogue between the past and present histories of the space.

This project is a manifesto of sufficiency: doing a lot with a minimum. It is based on the principles of compactness, flexibility, and reversibility, transforming the space into a choreographed dialogue between architecture and the body, where each element contributes to the daily experience of its occupants.
